Customer: Bambookaa / Task: Identity, Extensions, Brand + Communication Design
The brief
Bambookaa™ began as an idea to create an everyday utility product (the bicycle) with a naturally available raw material (bamboo), and integrating electrical assist to make everyday commute and hobby riding a whole new experience.
The customer had already invested in perfecting the product prototype and needed assistance with creating and popularizing the brand, in tandem with mass production. The positioning needed to be in the luxury lifestyle segment, with crisp and sophisticated brand image and communication. Except the brand name and a modest number of products in inventory, there was nothing else that could be used to market the brand.
The customer wanted a one-stop-shop that could deliver the branding basics and help launch the brand.
Our solution
We began with creating the identity – bamboo, pedelec, unique handcrafted form, DC motor and battery – and came up with simple and fitting design. This was approved near instantly by the customer, and we proceeded to create a visual language for a pre-launch teaser campaign.
While the teasers played on social media and generated interest, we implemented a product photo shoot and used the results to create a product brochure, an e-commerce enabled website and a library of product images for future use. This was followed by an introductory product AV, and another AV to highlight mobile app-based control for the bike’s rider.
The brand was officially launched on February 18, 2019. It has so far achieved a modest reach on social media, a satisfactory number of pre-orders and continues to march forward with an innovative streak driven entirely by the inventor.
